Minnesota Beef Producers Win NCBA Competition

Cattle producers win $5,000 for Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association
in Pfizer Animal Health contest

PHOENIX (Feb. 26, 2009) — Minnesota cattle producers proved their cattle production knowledge by taking first place in the popular, “Who Wants to Be a CattleMaster®?” contest at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Convention and Trade Show, Jan. 28-30 in Phoenix, Ariz.

By answering a wide range of animal health questions in an interactive trivia game at the Pfizer Animal Health trade show booth, Minnesota producers earned the top prize of $5,000, which was presented to the Minnesota Cattlemen’s Association. South Dakota participants finished second, earning $3,000 for their state association, and Nebraska came in third to win $1,500. Winners were based on the highest average state score, provided at least 10 people from that state participated.

Shown accepting the check are the members of the association who attended the 2009 NCBA Trade Show and Convention.

“We congratulate Minnesota cattle producers on proving their knowledge of animal health issues and capturing first place,” said Julian Garcia, group director of marketing at Pfizer Animal Health. “Pfizer Animal Health is committed to supporting state cattlemen’s associations and programs and helping educate producers on animal health topics.”

Contestants could use ask-a-friend and 50:50 options—similar to the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire®” TV show—to answer a mix of increasingly difficult questions. Prizes also were awarded to individual participants who reached the highest level. Ongoing point totals for each state were displayed during the trade show, with winners announced at the close of the show on Friday, Jan. 30.
