Texas Beef Producer Honored with Max Deets Leadership Scholarship
SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 29, 2010) - Jill Ginn, a beef producer from Granbury, Texas, was recognized yesterday as the recipient of the annual Max Deets Leadership Scholarship, presented by the National Cattlemen's Foundation (NCF). The ceremony took place during the Best of Beef Breakfast at the 2010 Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio, Texas.
Developed in honor of Max Deets, a Beloit, Kan., cattleman and 1997 president of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA), the scholarship promotes industry leadership and further develops young industry visionaries by awarding an all-expense-paid trip to the annual Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show, with a value up to $1,000.
Ginn served as chairman of the Young Cattlemen’s Conference, selected on the basis of outstanding leadership. She is currently vice president of the American National CattleWomen, and served as chairman of the 2009 National Beef Cookoff. Ginn, who grew up in Hereford, Tex., is territory manager for Novartis Animal Health in Central/East Texas and Louisiana, working with cow/calf and stocker operators to manage their animal health programs and help them improve their bottom line. She is a graduate of Texas A University with a degree in Agricultural Science, and lives in Granbury with her husband, Scott.
Established through contributions from the Kansas Livestock Association and NCBA, the Max Deets Leadership Scholarship is administered by the National Cattlemen's Foundation Board of Trustees. The scholarship is awarded to the chairman of the annual NCBA Young Cattlemen's Conference.
