Formalizing 'Pocket of Passion'

ANCW looks at the new structure for beef promotion.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 3, 2014) — American National CattleWomen Inc. (ANCW) leadership unveiled a new proposed Beef Promotion Committee and Working Group structure Feb. 3 during the 2014 Cattle Industry Annual Convention & NCBA Trade Show in Nashville, Tenn. The restructuring moves a “pocket of passion” to a formal committee, ANCW Executive Director Sarah Bohnenkamp told attendees of the ANCW Beef Promotion Focus Session.

The Beef Promotion Committee will be chaired by the ANCW president-elect and encompass four working groups:

1) retail and metro cooking shows;

2) moms’ on the farm;

3) campus events; and

4) social media and online activities.

Each working group will be headed by a manager, Bohnenkamp explained. The four working group managers and the ANCW president-elect will form the Beef Promotion Committee. The four working group managers, selected from the membership, will choose a manager to serve as committee vice chairman.

One of the advantages of the new structure, Bohnenkamp explained is that any ANCW member can sign up to participate in the working group of their choice by signing up on the ANCW website, www.ancw.org, and filling out the M3 Feedback Form.

In a later session, Bohnenkamp emphasized the need for volunteers. "No matter where you're at, your interest, we want you."
