Penn State Students Win 2003 NCF Beef Quiz Bowl

Penn State University Wednesday night was named the national winner of the 2003 NCF National Collegiate Beef Quiz Bowl. Teams earned the privilege of competing at the Cattle Industry Annual Convention and Trade Show in Nashville by winning their sectional competition of the American Society of Animal Science Academic Quadrathalon.

Other teams competing in this year’s event were the University of Florida, Michigan State University and University of Wyoming.

The National Collegiate Quiz Bowl is a National Cattlemen’s Foundation (NCF) program. NCF serves the beef industry as a charitable institution that has as its mission to promote the future of the beef industry through research and education. The Quiz Bowl continues to develop future leaders by engaging them in competition and presenting the contestants with the opportunity to be a part of the Cattle Industry Annual Convention. The National Collegiate Beef Quiz Bowl teams will take home $2,500 to put toward the agricultural program at their school.

The team members on this year’s winning team were: Jennifer Flinchbaugh, Lori Connely, Lee Ann Tice and Sara Kreisner. The advisor was Dr. Dan Kniffen.
