Colorado State University Students Win 2004 NCF Beef Quiz Bowl

Albert Conlin (right) of Oakdale, Calif., was named the 2003 Top Hand by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. Conlin set a record, bringing in 163 new members. He was recognized at an awards luncheon Jan. 31 during the Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in Phoenix, Ariz.. Click here for NCBA release.

John Dillard of Virginia Tech University was named the overall winner of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange/National Cattlemen’s Foundation Scholarship Program. Out of nearly 100 applicants, 20 students were presented $1,250 scholarships. Dillard also won an expense-paid trip to the 2004 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in Phoenix, Ariz., where he received the award at the awards luncheon Jan. 31. John Butler (right), chairman of the National Cattlemen’s Foundation, presents Sam Shaw of Caldwell, Idaho, the Max Deets Scholarship at the awards luncheon Jan. 31 during the 2004 Cattle Industry Annual Convention. Presented in honor of 1997 National Cattlemen’s Beef Association president Max Deets, the award is presented to the chairman of the Young Cattlemen’s Conference. Annually, YCC participants select an individual who demonstrates outstanding leadership during the week-long tour to serve as chairman of the conference the following year.
