New Member/First Timer Orientation
This session is intended to give first-time attendees the opportunity to meet NCBA officers and Region II representatives. NCBA Top Hand Club members will share the who, what, when and where of being a new member to NCBA, as well as how to get the most benefit from attending your first convention.

4 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.

Opening General Session
Recognized as a thought leader and authority on gutsy leaders and companies, Kevin Freiberg is the keynote speaker for the opening session. He identifies what steps “gutsy” leaders must take to capture and motivate people while increasing profitability and maintaining competitiveness. The session will also address progress toward the four priorities of the Beef Industry Long-Range Plan: creating value, creating growth, creating sustainability and creating opportunity.

5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

NCBA Trade Show Welcome Reception: Region II Welcomes You to Nashville!
This Cajun-style party will feature entertainment by Due West, a vocal harmony-driven band. Sample Tennessee wines and get a taste of the south at the Region II booth. This year’s NCBA-PAC/PEF All-Breed Bull Auction will play host to the First Annual Cattlemen’s Auctioneer Championship Contest.

Thursday, February 1
7:30 a.m. – 9:15 pm

Cattle-Fax Outlook Seminar
The outlook session will feature highlights of 2006, during which drought, beef trade, ethanol production and volatile markets made the headlines. Speakers will discuss what’s in store for the industry in 2007, including the changing cattle cycle, industry trends, beef demand, export markets, global marketing, and the changing structure of the industry.

9:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Beef Industry Issues Forums:
“Understanding the Business and Consumer Climate”
3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. ANCW General Membership Business Meeting
3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

NCBA Nutrition Research Discovery Symposium
National dietary guidelines and consumer attitudes about beef are largely influenced by available science. Since 1922, the beef industry has invested in a nutrition research program and the findings have been critical to protecting beef’s role in the diet. At this session, leading researchers in the scientific and medical community and beef industry leaders share science, explore needs, and discover opportunities for future beef industry nutrition research.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns is invited to keynote this session which will also feature the honoring of the 2007 winner of the NCF Beef Industry Vision Award and Beef Backer Awards.

NCBA-PAC Night at the Wildhorse Saloon
Tracy Byrd is the featured entertainer for this night out at the Wildhorse Saloon. Touted as Nashville’s No. 1 destination for dining and entertainment, the facility features a famous dance floor often seen live on Country Music Television and award-winning cuisine. Buses will provide transportation to hand from convention hotels to downtown Nashville.

NCBA Awards Program Lunch
“A Tribute to the King Through the Years”
The lunch will feature a high-energy, live musical biography showcasing Elvis Presley’s memorable career starring John Beardsley. The lunch program will also honor NCBA’s Top Hand Club members and awards will be presented to the top membership recruiters, the 2007 Beef Industry Scholarship Award winner, the Max Deets Leadership Award winner and the National Collegiate Beef Quiz Bowl winners.

Grand Finale Evening Event: “Songwriters in the Round”
The Round will feature country music songwriters Aaron Barker, Allen Shamblin and Paul Overstreet performing their hits as they were originally written and providing insight into how each song was inspired and eventually written. For your dancing pleasure, Sonny Burgess will perform.
